Vodafone to target 3G mobile market aggressively
UK based mobile services giant Vodafone has announced plans to take on the 3G market aggressively during the upcoming holiday season during the Christmas. The company plans to unveil as many as 15 new handsets during this period out of which at least six are expected to be priced at entry-level segment based at budget buyers of mobile services.
The company aims to target budget segment with their new products to get the service popular amongst the masses. And Vodafone believes there is no better time than Christmas to launch new products and services. Market analysts believe that this would just be the beginning of a new era of war between the mobile service providers to get the customer upgraded to this next generation mobile technology.
The lowest priced handset in the upcoming product range is expected to be the Samsung Z140 handset with expected price to be close to £130. Peter Bamford, Vodafone’s chief marketing officer is pretty excited about their upcoming plans as he said: “We are confident this is going to be a 3G Christmas. A significant proportion of the range is targeted at mid to entry-level price points, encouraging the mass-market adoption of Vodafone live! with 3G.â€
The company already has more than 282,000 subscribers to their 3G services in Britain alone since the month of November last year when they first introduced the technology in their domestic market. The company plans to get its user base to around 10 million in the coming times with their 3G products and services.
