Dell to offer Verizon high-speed connection powered Laptops

Just a day after announcing that they would be selling a laptop range preloaded with Mandriva Linux distribution, Dell has now released plans of selling a laptop with a built-in connection card for Verizon Wireless’ high-speed service sometime next year. Both the companies released this news today in the media.

Verizon Wireless is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc, which provides wireless broadband connectivity in the United States. They are now also talking with the former IBM and now Lenovo Group Ltd. amongst other PC manufacturers for similar services making it easier for the end user to get connected to the internet.

Verizon Wireless is the second biggest U.S. mobile phone provider and provides high-speed wireless connectivity based on EV-DO technology with coverage for more than a third of the population. Currently the subscribers have to purchase a separate fast-wireless cards that are not built in to their computers.

With wireless broadband connectivity becoming a common sight in the United States, this offer would bring some joy to the potential customers for Dell.
