Acer to make an entry into the U.S. Digital Home Market
Acer happens to be one of the top budget PC makers in the world. The brand reputation is pretty impressive and the company gives bigger companies like Dell and HP good competition when it comes to delivering value for money products like Laptops and Desktop Computers. The company has now plans to enter the U.S. Digital Home Market by introducing a line of digital convergence products next year.
They made an entry into this competitive market with their laptops and next year would see them launch an array of entertainment products in the US market. The Taiwan-based computer maker believes that the growing market of digital convergence equipments represents an important growth segment for them and they aim to capture it with their products.
Acer believes that big brand names would suffer because of their high prices, which include high margins and proprietary products, and they would benefit from this trend. Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci said in a press conference: “The PC life cycle is relatively short and getting shorter. For (digital) convergence products, it will be the same.”
The company would first test their products in the Canadian market before launching them in the United States to get a taste of the competition in the North American market.
