More Support for Verizon wireless Internet from HP, Dell, and Lenovo

In a move, which would make it easier for the end user to access internet wirelessly… three of the top PC manufacturers have announced plans to integrate Verizon hardware in their laptops to make them capable of supporting their Wi-Fi out of the box. Dell and Hewlett-Packard had announced yesterday that they would make the Verizon Wireless technology available to customers, pre-installed in laptop products, sometime next year.

Now, Lenovo, the owners of the PC division of IBM have also chipped in with their support. Verizon announced that Lenovo has also signed in to the program today. They have been selling high-speed mobile access for the past two years in the Bay Area and other places by offering their V620 PC card, which was required to be installed on the laptops.

This technology would now come pre-installed on the laptops build by these three companies making it easier for the consumers to get wireless connectivity with DSL quality speeds. Verizon Wireless representative Brenda Raney spoke about this news: “The significance is that you’ll be able to order this embedded in the laptop. If you think back when technology changes, there’s always a big increase in user adaptation.”
