Toyota updates Corolla for Indian Customer
The Indian branch of the Japanese auto giant Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched a slightly different version of their premium sedan, Corolla. The company aims to further snatch the sales from its competitors with this variant and plans to achieve a market share of 10 per cent by 2010. However, TKM Director for Marketing Groups Toyohiko Ino has however denied that the company had plans to setting up new facilities at this moment.
He said: ”We are currently focusing on sales and manpower reinforcement in order to improve our sales figuresâ€. The company would however have to massive increase their manufacturing capacities to achieve their future goals of attaining 10% market share. The company currently has the capacity to manufacture 60,000 automobiles.
Ino also said that the company has yet not decided on whether they want to enter the small car segment in India and what model they would be basing their Indian small car on. He said: ”We will firm up the model only after completing the study.” He has assured that they are on their way to achieve the targeted 54,000 units sales in this current year despite the slowdown the industry has seen.
TKM Deputy Managing Director K K Swamy added: ”We are looking to sell 1,100 units this year which is 1,000 more than last year.â€
