Oracle planning to crush Salesforce.com
Database giants Oracle have announced that they have no plans to try to acquire much smaller rivals Salesforce.com. Instead, the company plans to crush this little competitor in the customer management software market. The company has been on a buying spree in the last couple of months but has no plans to try to acquire Salesforce.com.
Oracle recently announced plans to take over Siebel Systems Inc. for nearly USD 6 Billion. This news raised speculations that they might also be considering buying Salesforce.com but now it is confirmed that they are not going to. Oracle President Charles Phillips spoke about their plans to deal with their little but pretty strong competitor: “In this case I think it would be much more fun to crush them. We see a lot of ways to compete with them. We will try that for a while.”
Salesforce.com develops software, which help companies track their sales, customer service, and marketing. It was formed by an old protégé of Oracle Chief Executive Larry Ellison, Mark Benioff. Oracle on their part has said that they have no big acquisitions planned for the coming future. However, they might still go for medium-sized deals.
