Cisco to acquire Nemo Systems
Networking giants Cisco are continuing with their buying spree and their latest acquisition is the privately held Nemo Systems in a $12.5 million cash deal. Cisco aims to bolster its ability to offer scalable network systems and they would be using Nemo’s network memory chips for this. Nemo is a fabless semiconductor company that develops memory chips for network systems.
Cisco would now be integrating their products in their core switching platforms and service modules. As a result, the company would gain an enlarged range of network systems products. The deal is expected to be closed by the end of next month and Nemo would become a part of Cisco’s Data Center, Switching and Security Technology Group.
In the recent times, Cisco has acquired Sheer Networks in a $122 million deal and consumer-product developer Kiss Technology. Last year saw them taking over competing router maker Procket Networks.
