Toyota looks at market expansion in the China market

Japanese auto giant and the world’s second largest maker of automobiles Toyota is aiming to expand operations in the growing Chinese market. The company would setup a mass-market sales network in China as early as next summer and would plan to start their assault on the dominating players in the market like Honda and other American players.

Toyota has aimed to sell more than 100,000 Camrys a year in China and for this; they plan to establish around 110 dealerships for this car alone in the market. This is a hugely successful car in the American market and Toyota believes that China would take to it in a huge way too! They already have an established network for their Crown and luxury Lexus brands and with this expansion they would have more than 300 dealerships in the country.

These new sales and marketing entity would focus on promoting the Toyota vehicles being locally produced by the Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co, a joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. Toyota Camry would be the driving force initially and they would expand on a later stage. The company also plans to expand their capacities to 100,000 units a year through their new Guangzhou Toyota’s facilities.

The longer-term plan is to expand this manufacturing scale to more than 700,000 vehicles in the next 3 years.
