Yahoo! launches its own Podcasting web based service

Apple started the Podcasting mania by supporting it in their recently updated iTunes application. And now, Yahoo! has launched their own Podcasting service with the test launch of the http://podcasts.yahoo.com/ service which enables the users to download and review online radio programs.

Podcasting is a growing internet phenomena which is said to replace the need for radio shows in the future, as users would be able to download the programs of their choices and listen to them on the move as per their convenience. The convenience they get with the today’s generation MP3 players means that users are picking up podcasts pretty easily.

Yahoo! would be providing content from the National Public Radio, the weekly presidential address, and independent shows with varied subjects on their web section devoted to Podcasts. It would also allow the users to rate and review various shows. Yahoo! is also integrating a search engine to help users find their choice of podcasts from the large pool of available content.
