Google adds Tags and Labels to personalized searching

Google has silently updated their personalized searching feature, which helps keeping a track of past searches made on the popular search engine. The company has added bookmarking facility to the search history feature enabling users to highlight certain searches made for the future. In addition, users can add labels and comments to these search history items.

Currently, their seems to be not much use for this feature except for categorizing searches in the backend. However, Google seems to be ever evolving their features and soon we might find these integrated on the normal search engine searches. For example a previously visited search page tagged or bookmarked in the backend might show the saved comment along with the search results.

This might come handy in research work considering adding comments to search results can be very helpful for certain users. It would add more edge to the personalized searching besides just improving the search experience by keeping track of what kind of results users are more likely to click. For now, users can remove certain domains from their searches to make the searches more efficient.

We would like to see this feature evolve into something more usable and useful in the near future.
