Time Warner CEO says AOL sales talk is all rumors
The chief executive of the parent company of American Online, Richard Parsons has said that all the news in the market about the possible collaboration or the sale of the AOL is all market rumors. Market is full of stories about Microsoft and Google/Comcast showing interest in doing a deal for AOL separately. However, speaking during his visit to the Hong Kong, he clarified that they have no intentions to tie-up with Microsoft’s search-engine technology.
He clarified that there is no intention for a possible collaboration with Microsoft or MSN for their AOL unit of web services. Wall Street Journal reported on October 7 about such a possible discussions being underway. Time Warner is seriously looking at expanding to Asian markets like China and India and they plan to concentrate on that.
Parsons added: “India, I think, offers more current potential for us as it has a stronger rule of law culture.†However, lack of infrastructure and bureaucratic hassles might become a problem in the longer run. Nevertheless, it would be easier than the China where the media restrictions and the control of the communist government are constantly making news. AOL believes that China would open itself slowly to the freedom of the internet.
