Hyundai Verna to be out in 2006

India’s second largest automaker Hyundai is going great guns in this market. The company has just rolled out their 2,00,000th car for the export market at a ceremony in Chennai Port. In addition, they announced that Hyundai Verna would be launched sometime next year. This sedan car is expected to be out in the third quarter (Jul-Sept) of 2006 and would be placed between the Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Elantra model.

Hyundai is aiming to be selling around 1000 units of this new model per year when it is launched in India next year. They would be assembling this car at their plant in Chennai and would be using CBUs (completely built units) imported from Korea. The company also claimed that they are the single largest exporter of passenger cars from the country.

Hyundai exported around Rs 1,700 crore worth of car units from their base in India. Impressively, they had touched the one lakh car export target just one year ago. Hyundai president B V R Subbu said in a statement during this announcement: “We have touched the two lakh mark in less than a year and this is the fastest by any manufacturer in India.”

The company exports their Santro Xing model under the brand name of Atos Prime and Accent model to over 60 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia. Their prime markets in these regions are Italy, Germany, Greece, Spain, Algeria, South Africa, Mexico, and Colombia.
