Toyota recalling as many as 1.41 million vehicles

Japanese automakers are well known for the reliability and quality of their products. And Toyota is one of the pioneers in the field. However, some thing seems to have gone wrong and the company is now working hard on making the amends. The Japanese auto giant and the second largest automaker in the world is due to recall 1.41 million vehicles, which marks it as the largest recall of its kind by a Japanese automaker.

This time the fault lies with the headlight fault, which could see the lights fail and as many as 16 models built by the company are affected by it manufactured between May 2000 and August 2002. They have not revealed the estimated figures on how much this damage control is going to cost them but it would be well over USD 100 millions.

More of these affected cars were sold in the Japanese market with a couple of thousands exported to markets like Australia, Singapore, and Thailand. The good thing is that no injuries of deaths have been reported until now due to this inherent fault lying with the car already under use in these markets. The Japanese record for the highest number of vehicles recalled until now was lying with Nissan who recalled 1.04 million vehicles back in 1996.
