Apple iPod nano problems and the craze for iPods
Apple has had a massive success with their iPod range of music players. Seldom do we see any problems originating with their music players. However, the fabulous Apple iPod nano did cause some media glare with reports floating on the internet claiming that the display screen of the nano was so fragile that it got scratched too easily.
Apple initially dismissed these reports but later agreed to replace any defective unit, which was delivered at a sub standard quality rate. However, they were still sued by a group claiming to be representing tons of Apple iPod nano owners. Now, market analysts believe that if the case is not settled soon enough, it could spell troubles for the Macintosh maker.
The complainants are asking for punitive damages and a share of future Apple profits. Rob Bamforth, principle analyst at Quocirca said in a statement: “With things like this it’s more the way they are handled rather than the problem itself that can hurt sales.†He also added: “Apple has had a good reputation for quality and their design style is very good. The way they replaced the cracked screens did them a lot of good; it recognized the problem and addressed it.”
Apple is still to respond to the claim for which they have a period of a month to do so. It would be interesting to see how the company reacts while the market continues to see huge sales of all the iPods including the fabulous nano.

I got a black nano 1 month ago in Miami and brought to my hometown Rio de Janeiro… three weeks after I arrived, and without much use, the screen freezed and I can´t use it at all… I am going to a local Apple store to see if their warranty works here… but anyway, it is a shame for a company with such a strong brand put a product with these kind of problems in the market.

Got a black Nano 2 GB for X-mas. Now, in mid Jan., it doesn’t work – it shut down and won’t come back on. Great. The Apple Store “genius” said it needs to be replaced. Great. I thought flash drivers were less prone to malfunctions. Apple, I hate u!

Had my Nano for 3 months now, absolutely no problems so far. Maybe it is because I treat it with care and don’t throw it around. I’m sure half the complainers on here just weren’t careful enough with it. It IS fragile, always keep that in mind.

I just bought mine today and it’s not user friendly what so ever. I can’t get the “Do not disconnect” screen to go away so I can start using it. It certainly isn’t because I am not taking care of it becasue I havn’t have it for 24 hours yet. I am really not impressed and I can’t find anyone who can answer my problems, even the apple website isn’t helpful.

For frozen screens, try to reset the nano buy flicking the hold to on then off and shortly after, hold the select and menu button and it should restart in like 6 secs. I just bought it yesterdai, and everytime i turn it off for more than 5 min, it freezes and i cant turn it on again. the only way is to reset it everytime, which gets annoying. Does n e one else have this problem constantly???

I had gotten my ipod nano 2gb silver for my birthday about 1 month and 22 days ago as of today..and i had just used my stepdad laptop to add more songs..and now after i was listening to it and was scimmin through it the darn thing froze up on me..And I called the 1-800 number and it told me the same thing that Rebekah said to..But I’ve been doing it like every 2-5 minutes and its still in the samwe condition…so im just going to carry it with me all day today and just see what will happen..But if there is any way thatI can get it to unfreeze I would appreicate it..Because its fully charged but its just frozen and wont play any songs cause it got frozen right in the start of a song…:(

Number 37 is soo right when it comes to ipod freezing, i’ve had mine for over a year, and today was the first time i had problems. and it’s been dropped, kicked, and virtually in a handler-electronic device abusive relationship, I’ve still yet to get a cover for it.

I got my 2gb iPod nano white last 2005. I always care it like a baby, I don’t drop, bang it. until now it is like a new one, no scratches. until last week, the screen became half white! I don’t know how to fix it, I already try all the steps, but it won’t help. So I went to an Apple Store and they say I should change my lcd, that cost Php 6,000! And the worst thing is there is no more stocks, because it is already faced-out! I bought an Apple because I know if there is a problem it is easy to fix, but I’m wrong…

I would like to fix my 05 2gb nano which as been dead for like 3 months, because i would like to use it instead of my Zune (much better then ipod by the way) when i go places so i dont damage my zune. the screen is frozen with just the apple logo, and when you go to reset it, it just blinks, and if you let the battery die, you charge it up and the apple logo is still there, does this mean im pretty much screwed?

my problem is that my 1 1/2 yr old ipod 3rd gen just completely dies/shuts down mid song or when i go to advance to another song. i’ve charged it and updated it but doesn’t help. i think i’m going to have to send in for a battery replacement.
