Rupert Murdoch might establish an Internet Company

Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch has said that News Corporation might consider establishing a new company along with their partners to specifically target the highly competitive U.S. high-speed Internet market. He was speaking with the media group Wall Street Journal when he spoke about his plans for the North American market: “Here, we don’t know. We may be forming a company with partners to build something out here that would give you broadband.”

The company already controls the top U.S. satellite TV service DirecTV Group but lacks a high-speed internet service, which has become somewhat of a must-have for any house in the country. The media company believes that as the high definition video content gains popularity in the market, consumers would want to have access to more two-way bandwidth.

He also spoke about another business tycoon John Malone who has shown interest in acquiring News Corp. Rupert said: “We have a very civil relationship, but I just gotta watch him so that, in the interests of all shareholders, you can’t have someone creep up and get control of the company without paying a premium.”
