‘Red Hat Desktop’ makes Microsoft Red-faced

Red Hat, provider of open source solutions along with Wind River has now launched Red Hat Desktop. Red Hat has incorporated new features in its “Desktop” like e-mail, web browser, instant messenger, office suite, imaging tools, multimedia applications and installation support and a year of upgrades and updates, all rolled into one package.

With Red Hat Desktop, Red Hat plans to address the growing demand for PCs in India. PC manufacturers in India have already started offering Linux OS with their products fuelling the demand for PCs and laptops. Governments, Corporates and even the education segment have already started using Linux on the desktop.
