Google Base is on. Live and Kicking
Trust Google to launch two smashing services within a period of a few days. Just 2 days back they launched their fabulous Google Analytics web statistic service. And today, they made the much in news Google Base service live. Google Base allows people to post any kind of information they want for free and to provide labels to describe it so others can easily find it.
This information would be searchable on the Google’s special search engine and might even be featured on Google’s other services like Froogle, Google Local and regular Google searches. Google Base’s FAQs describe it as: “If you have information you want to share with others, but aren’t sure how to go about gaining an audience, Google Base is for you.â€
Google for now is not putting their famed advertisement models on these pages. However, people have already caught on to this interesting online concept. We could already see cooking recipes, used cars for sales, and other interesting information on Google Base. However, it looks like the service still has a few glitches as when we tried posting some of our own stuff; we landed on an error page.
Even though the market analysts believe that, this kind of service would in the end target companies and services like eBay and Craigslist. Google does not believe so. A company representative said that Google just want to serve people who have information to share that are not already on a Web site and being crawled by a search engine to open it up to the public.
