Movielink in collaboration with 20th Century Fox

Digital movies download service Movielink has gone into collaboration with the major movie studio 20th Century Fox. The collaboration is on a film distribution pact and gives Movielink access to content from all of Hollywood’s major film studios. They were already offering content from six Hollywood majors, and with this latest deal, it adds more than 1200 more movie titles from the Fox’s archive.

Peter Levinsohn, Fox president of worldwide pay television and digital media said in a statement: “Broadband connections continue to improve, and the movement to (direct film delivery) to TV continues to become more of a reality. As with any consumer product, we want to make sure we’re in every distribution outlet.”

The company was formed as a joint venture of five Hollywood studios. The aim was to provide a legal alternative to purchase and download movies from the internet to the end consumer. Internet piracy has become a big concern for these movie studios who fear that it will kill their revenue sources in the long run. The internet also gives them a medium to communicate and provide services directly to the end consumer without any help from the third party.

Movielink also claimed that they are nearing touching a benchmark of selling a 100,000 downloads a month.
