China might order 60 Japanese bullet trains
China is one of the fastest growing markets in the world and is currently buying large number of plans for its aviation market. The latest news circulating the web is that the country is also planning to extend its railway network and is expected to order around 60 Japanese bullet trains in the near future.
This order would be for the high-speed Shinkansen “bullet” trains and they would be required to upgrade the country’s railway system. These trains are generally modeled on East Japan Railway Co’s high-speed “Hayate” trains, which travel at up to 170 mph. The news was released by the Japanese Kyodo News agency.
The orders will be placed with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., which is one of the six companies that won contracts last year with China’s Railway Ministry to improve key railway lines. Kawasaki Heavy Industries on their part have just said that they are currently in talks with the Chinese authorities.
China aims to double the speed of trains on five railway lines to 125 miles per hour, using Japan’s bullet train technology.
