CBS reportedly talking to Google for video search and Video on Demand

US based television network CBS has reported that they are in talks with the search engine giant Google for video searching facilities and Video on Demand service. The company is currently in the process of splitting from MTV and Paramount and is looking for distribution mediums for its top ranked shows including the CSI franchise.

CBS chairman Leslie Moonves said in a statement to a media group: “We’re talking to them about a whole slew of things including video-on-demand, including video search.” This news comes at a time when more and more television content companies and movie studios are looking at the internet-based distribution modules for their content.

Moonves on his part said that he considered internet to be one of the biggest potential markets for their content. They are also said to be considering Google’s competitor for similar talks in the future. However, nothing has been confirmed till now on how CBS plan to go around expanding their reach to the US consumers.

Moonves also said that the company was in talks with satellite television operator DirecTV Group Inc. for similar deals. Again, nothing is confirmed on when the deal would be signed.
