China aims to put a man on moon in next 15 years

With Russia and USA struggling with their space missions, it looks like China is aiming to become the next dominating player in space research and exploration. The country has just completed their second manned mission to moon and their space program aims to put a man on the moon and build a space station in 15 years.

Hu Shixiang, deputy commander of China’s manned space flight program said in a statement: “I think in about 10 to 15 years, we will have the ability to build our own space station and to carry out a manned moon landing”. However, they would require more help from the government to secure funds for these missions.

Nie Haisheng and Fei Junlong were the Chinese astronauts, who circled Earth for five days aboard the Shenzhou 6 capsule, traveling 2 million miles in 115 hours, 32 minutes. China conducted their first space mission 2 years ago. They are now aiming to master the technology for a space walk and docking in space by 2012.

Hu also clarified that they are not competing with USA or Russia with their space missions as their aim is to use space exploration for peaceful ends.
