Bajaj planning to launch eight 2-wheelers at Auto Expo

India’s premier two wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has announced that they plan to unveil as many as eight new products at the upcoming Auto Expo in January next year. Four of these new products are expected to be brand new products. The rest of them would be updated models of their existing range of products.

Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto said in a statement: “We will be displaying eight products at the auto show in January, four of which are brand new. While most of these are likely to be commercially introduced in 2006, 2 or 3 may spill over to 2007.” The company however declined to give out more details on the kind of products we might see at the Auto Expo.

However, market analysts believe that the new range would include three ungeared scooters, a motorcycle in the value segment and a high-end superbike. The company is rumored to be preparing a higher end model of their Pulsar bike to enter the performance biking segment to take on products like Comet and perhaps even the Enfield Thunderbird.

Bajaj is also expected to strengthen their product range in the executive segment of the motorcycle industry by introducing the 112cc version of Discover 125cc DTSi on December 10. Bajaj added: “We are keen to strengthen position in the executive segment as it forms around 50% of the motorcycle market. Since fuel economy is a critical feature of the value segment, we are introducing the Discover 112cc.”
