Indian Airlines is now ‘Indian’

The government owned domestic airline company Indian Airlines has announced that they would now be called just Indian. The airline is going a drastic makeover and this name change is a part of that. The company also unveiled a new logo, which is inspired by Konark sun temple in Orissa. Indian is now waiting for a bunch of new aircrafts to join their fleet, which they recently ordered for.

This announcement about the brand name change came from the Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. He also said that the new look will begin with the three leased Airbus A319s joining the fleet this month. The first of the A319 has already arrived in the country and bears the new vibrant logo of a flaming orange sun with a dash of blue inspired by the Konark sun temple.

Incidentally, this plane is the first one to join the Indian airlines fleet in almost 11 years. Currently, Indian would just have the new look on these newly acquired planes. The other planes in the fleet would be given the new look as and when they are refurbished or painted. Indian is also now looking towards some fashion designers to give their staff a brand new and fresh look.

The airline company is also looking to add at least 1 new plane from their recently placed order with Airbus every month. The state owned airline operator is facing some serious pressure and competition from the newly started budget private airlines like GoAir and Kingfisher. Air Deccan is another hot player in the market, which has with their innovative schemes impressed the frequent fliers.
