Apple sells their 100 millionth song from iTunes Europe

Apple has done wonderfully well with their iPod and iTunes range of music products and services. They are the world leaders when it comes to digital music players and they run the world’s most popular digital music store. Apple iTunes is now available in many big markets and it is doing rather well in all of them.

The Macintosh maker announced yesterday that they have now sold more than 100 million songs through iTunes digital store in the European market. The company as usual awarded the iTunes user Ken Reist of Steenokkerzeel, Belgium for being the purchaser of the 100 millionth song on iTunes Europe.

He had purchased and downloaded a recording of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” and won himself a 17-inch iMac G5, 10,000 song gift card, and two tickets to see Robbie Williams in concert. Now, he is one lucky guy! iTunes was launched in the European market in June 2004 when it was made available in UK, France, and Germany.

In other news, Apple also announced that they have sold/provided over 3 million video downloads from the USA based iTunes store. This comes after the company recently launched the iPod Video and started offering video content on the iTunes.
