Tata Daewoo to work with Afzal Motors of Pakistan

Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company Ltd is one of the many wholly owned subsidiaries of Tata Motors. And they have just signed on a Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) with Afzal Motors Pvt Ltd of Pakistan. The two companies would be assembling vehicles for the Afghanistan market.

Afzal Motors would be assembling the TDCV vehicles in Pakistan and the production would start by the last quarter of 2006 at the newly established plant in Karachi. This plant has a manufacturing capacity of 3,000 commercial vehicles a year on a single shift basis. The assembly of plants in Pakistan would provide customers better products at competitive prices.

This collaboration would be the first Korean truck assembly project in Pakistan. The agreement to assemble TDCV vehicles in Pakistan unit of Afzal Motors was signed on between TDCV President KO Chae, and Afzal Motors CEO Muhammad Ghufran. TDCV happens to be the largest manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks in Korea and their vehicles would help the commercial transport in industry in Afghanistan.

Tata already sells the vehicles from TDCV in around 50 countries worldwide. They are the world’s fifth largest medium and heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer and manufacture more than 150 commercial vehicle models including small, light and medium to heavy-duty trucks, buses and tractor-trailers.
