TVS Motor launches 150 cc motorcycle Apache
The last couple of years have seen motorcycles taking an upper hand over scooters and most of the two-wheeler manufacturers are concentrating on tapping this market with newer products. While Hero Honda has their new releases with Glamour and Achiever, Bajaj recently launched their new Bajaj Discover.
Another popular company in India, TVS Motors has now announced the launch of their new bike named Apache. TVS is aiming this bike at the youth of the country looking for high performance machine. Apache is a 15occ motorcycle and comes powered by a 13.5 Brake Horse Power (BHP) engine. They aim to bring the motorcycle to their dealers in Tamil Nadu within a month.
The nationwide launch is slated to take place by January end or the beginning of February. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, and Managing Director of the company said in a statement: “Within three to four months from now, we hope to sell 25,000 units of this bike.†They also have plans to export this model in their overseas market after meeting the initial demand of the domestic market.
TVS Motors has also claimed that they have a capacity of manufacturing 15,000 units of this five-speed bike at its Mysore plant and have plans to further enhance it to around 25,000 units. They spent around Rs. 15 crores to develop this model and are using the Inductive Digital Ignition (IDI) technology to bring latest technology to bike riders in the market.
Srinivasan added: “With the launch of this new product, the company is set to redefine and strengthen its position in the 150 cc premium segment and consolidate further on total volumes.â€

Hi i have been hunting around for a 150cc Bike. I had my eyes fixed with HH Achiever, until i saw the stunning looks of Apache. With Pulsar abound on the roads, i wanted a difference. I have visited the dealer’s showroom to check out Apache. To my astonishment, i don’t find the beast in it atleast i was not allowed to go on for a test ride and the overall height is mere 1060mm (similar to Discover). Also the finishing looks near crank part of the engine poises a aluminium painting look which is more glaring as a hand painted one.(The cast iron finish look near the engine is very poor)

apache has got max top speed 112.4km/hr . Max acceleration 0-60 and 0-80. In 0-80 it is one second faster than pulsar.

The Apache has all the prerequisites to acquire her own fan club. She has the looks, stunning performance, and good brakes to complement. She’s also a brilliant handler, not to mention her good ride quality, ergonomics and refinement levels that are on par with the best. Fuel efficiency isn’t too bad either.
But the clincher, especially in the Indian context, is her price. At Rs 52,490 (ex-showroom Chennai) for disc brakes, electric start and those nice alloy wheels is a good Rs 3400 cheaper than the current best-seller Pulsar in similar trim.
As we see it, Apache is not only a job well done by TVS, it is something the competition better we wary of!

Nice, sane and sensible. A TVS bike is all of this. Come to think of it, they have always been at the brink of brilliance. But always at the brink, despite making some of the most reliable, hassle-free, fuel-efficient bikes around. One could say their design department has been letting them down with very basic, bland and lose-in-the-bike-park styling. Then they made this, the Apache, a 150cc bike that shares nothing with the erstwhile Fiero F2. And while you may be a bit stunned by the picture, we assure you, the bike looks even more stunning in the metal.
It exudes a sporty weight-forward stance from tip to toe. Black five-spoke alloy rims with a partially black brake rotor to match, and gold front-brake calliper will be standard on all Apache variants. The front mudguard starts in an angular peak to run rearwards with a light step. Head-on,, the front fairing is unique— twin parking lights twinkling on both sides of a large and painstakingly detailed headlight. The Apache will come with a silver handlebar clamped on to a, sadly, non-alloy triple clamp by a brushed finish alloy piece.
Tri-pod black face instruments read out vital statistics, with a sporty tachometer, trip-equipped speedometer and fuel counter prominent. All-inclusive switches, high mirrors and comfortable grips are present, while the handlebar uses bar end weights. The bike’s fuel tank is smartly creased and stunning from any angle, with effective knee indents on either side.
The F2 engine was always a smooth and willing performer. What it lacked was a 5th gear and adequate muscle. That’s all been rectified on the Apache, for although it is based on the same four-stroke, air-cooled and single-cylinder unit, the new bike has now been suitably revised. Fed via a CV-type BS 26 carburettor, the alloy cylinder displaces 147.5cc. Its valvetrain has roller bearings incorporated on the rocker arms, and TVS has lavished attention on the internals, allowing the cylinder to breathe better. The theme has been to allow lean burn character for crisp throttle response, assisted by an induction and exhaust resonator on either side of the barrel. Inside, a super strong spark now fires the charge, with a claimed 60 millijoules tendered thanks to an inductive digital ignition system, as seen on some Royal Enfield bikes. Spark duration on the combustion stroke has also increased from 200-1200 microseconds, again helping the motor to dispense quick replies when queried with throttle inputs.
TVS has beefed up the smooth-working clutch on the Apache. The gearbox is now a positive and well-weighted 1-down and 4-up system that uses a heel-and-toe lever. One can safely expect par with the class economy, and instant cold starting character thanks to that fatter spark. We experienced nippy initial acceleration with a saturated top speed somewhere close to a true 110 kph, competently in the region of the Achiever, Unicorn and Pulsar 150. Don’t expect the Apache to be much faster— but it’s surely going to be as quick, if not a little quicker in the lower reaches of its power band. The engine note is a soft throb that builds with quiet composure as the revs rise. There is no drama, no intrusive vibrations, and the Apache always feels forgiving and linear in its power delivery.
Among the first things one notices when approaching an Apache is its short wheelbase. All of 1,260 mm separates the two rims; the front 17 inches, and the rear 18 inches. Rubber is TVS kit, with a meaty 90/90 section in front, and 90/90 at rear, or a slightly larger 100/80 available as optional. Twin telescopic forks and adjustable gas charged shocks do duty along with a rectangular swingarm. Sling a leg over and the Apache will allow you to get comfy pretty quick. Three quick blasts around TVS’ small, but interesting test track was all it took to have us feeling absolutely at home. Neither too sharp a handler nor too soft, the short wheelbase bike feels stupendous in twist and turn situations, ultra flickable yet rock steady, even at speeds around the magical 100 kph.
The only minor grouse we could pick is the low-handle rotating arch fouling with our knees on extra sharp and extra slow turns, and our tester’s six-foot stature only served to accentuate the blemish. Braking on the Apache is reassuring and just as stable as can be expected. Surely, this is a bike that can show its uppity chin to the Pulsar and the Unicorn.

I own a pulsar . I have ridden this bike. . the bike is pretty good.. i like it very much. . The specifications by Remo are not true. . refer to February edition overdrive and februvary edition overdrive. . It is best in the class. . It has got 13.7bhp @8500 rpm.. And it is powered by 147.5 cc engine .. not 145.5 cc. . and 0-60 in 5.74 second by obverdrive and 5.1 by bs motoring. . All thing about apache is best. . don’t ever under estimate a good product. .

Hi Rahul , I saw apache in black in cochin on March 3rd . The bike displayed by Cochin motors. That was the first time i saw apache in black.. I have started that bike with the permission of TVS guys.. Also light up its head light. Head light is pretty good.. For the last three months i am taking reserch on apache.. I own a Fiero FX too.. I want to upgrade it. . I am egarly waiting for apache to come in cochin. In the motor show TVS also displayed new Victor GLX with alloy wheels and scooty pep+..

Apache looks great…I saw it in the show room here in bangalore.I want to buy it as early as possible.But i m confused with the mileage(km/ltr).As tvs told for the star city that mileage will come 102 km/ltr.But it gives only 60-65. So as the show room people r saying that i will get 55 on road for apache how much mileage actually it will give.

TVS is known for quality products. I own a Fiero Fx. I is very good for long rides. We can trust the products. I never faced any problem with my fiero fx(especially in long rides means more than 1000Km ride.). . U can trust apache a lot in long rides becoz it ihas got modified fireo engine(The most trustful engine in India over last 6 years– It has shown its quality). It has got good shocks and extremly good power. In overdrives test rides It has got 13.7 bhp power and pulsar has got 13.5 bhp,Unicorn 13.5 bhp. It means apache has got more power than any other bike in its segment and also it has got good milage than pulsar and unicorn.

there is a problem of fuel indication reading and speedometer reading problem which i m facing, Even the same problems has been informed at SATURN motors,Yelahanka response was not effective to solve the problem. please review this problems and get back ASAP

Here i m advising u all to dont take the bike APACHE,cos last month my friend bought and he had met an accident in a few days.it not having much grip on road like HONDA UNICORN.disc brakes also not good wat v’ve expected.Really the Unicorn is the best engine,self start and disc brakes.I m not supporting Unicorn i telling here that wat i have felt.dont u see the look.

My suggestion is that dont ever buy this bike.I have bought Red Apache and facing lots of problem.Look of the Apache is to good but the problems are also to bad. Problem:one is that after driving above 50 km/s its handle start shaking and the other is that getting to hard to drive above 65km/s.I donnt wether others also facing the same problem.I have shown my bike 10 times in Servicing centre but the are still nt able to resolved the problem

I have Suzuki Fiero Year 2000 model. Performance of the bike is ok but donot have any road grip. I learnt that One should not use any brakes in TVS vehicles. Till now I have met five accidents with this bike, fortunately I am surviving. My recommendation to all that do not go for TVS bikes. TVS people living in their own dream world and they do not know how to make a good bike. If you want to go to God buy TVS bikes.
My recommendation is go for any Hero Honda or Honda bikes.
Your survival/comfort is much more important than Performance / pick-up / top speed / look / mileage etc.

it is fabulous.i realy liked the bike.the color,breacking system is too good.only the problem is while double riding its the engine gets slover.becouse the same have campared with cbz,as well as pulsor.but in these bykes the pulling strength is much more than appache.i have a appache, its giving me 50kmpl.
for all you people having appache.pls try to ride the byke in zoom(green light)it will give you more milege.
