Ford Motors set to increase prices of models in India
After Hyundai and Maruti, it is the turn of US based auto giant Ford Motors to announce a possible hike in the prices of their car modes in the Indian market. The company’s Indian unit said in a statement that they would increase prices across models from the middle of January 2006. The hike is necessitated considering the input cost has increased and some of this has to be passed on to the end consumer.
Arvind Mathew, Managing Director, and President of the company announced this in a press statement issued by the company. The price hike is expected to be in the region of 2 per cent to 2.5 per cent. In real world, the hike on various models would come in the range of Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,750.
Ford Motors has however, some good news for the customers who book the cars before the hike is applied on their models. The company would be delivering cars at the existing prices for those booked before the actual date the revised prices come into effect. The company also said that their recently launched Fiesta had received 4,500 customer orders. They plan to deliver close to half these cars within the current month.
Ford Motors have models like Ford Ikon, Ford Fiesta, Ford Fusion, Ford Endeavour, and the luxury sedan Ford Mondeo available in the Indian market.
