Hero Honda considering Jaipur for the third plant
Hero Honda happens to be the world’s largest manufacturer of two-wheelers. The company operates two plants. One in Gurgaon and other is in Dharuhera, on the outskirts of the same city. Now, the incoming reports suggest that the company is looking towards Rajasthan to setup its third manufacturing unit.
These reports have somewhat been confirmed by the sources in the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation. They have claimed that the company has set its eyes on Kukas, on the outskirts of Jaipur. The company currently has a production capacity of 3 million units.
A Hero Honda spokesperson said in a statement: “We are in the process of acquiring some land in Rajasthan. We are not in a position to give anymore details at this point.†It is unlikely if the company would reveal more in the near future. Though, the investment in this third plant is likely to be in the range of Rs. 300 crores.
This third plant is mostly expected to roll out the scooter models for the company. However, looking at the high demand of Hero Honda motorcycles in the market, they might want to expand it to the third plant as well. The company recently launched their first scooter product in the form of ‘Pleasure’. The company aims to sell around 100,000 units in the first 12 months of its rollout.
