Two Wheeler market saw a slump in December

December was not a good month for the two-wheeler manufacturer in the Indian market as the sales grew marginally for these players. The Indian two-wheeler market is dominated by players like Hero Honda, Bajaj, and TVS Motors, all of whom noticed marginal increase in sales in the month of December 2005.

These three players sells close to 86% of all two wheelers sold in the Indian market. Hero Honda is in fact the world’s largest seller of two wheelers. Their sales grew marginally by around 6% to 2.5 lakh units in December 2005. Bajaj Auto did worse as they noticed the sales grow by just around 1%.

TVS had a better year ending as they reported growth of around 11% in their sales figures. The company sold around 1.1 lakh units in December. As usual, Motorcycle sales continued to dominate the market as Hero Honda alone sold close to 2.5 lakh motorcycles followed by Bajaj, which sold around 2.5 lakh motorcycles.

Market experts believe that the sales growth would continue to remain sluggish in the first quarter of the current year. And we would be seeing Honda emerging as another dominating player in this segment as they aim to become one of the giants in the market.
