Online shopping becoming more hip and happening
This news report will not come as a surprise for anyone. Online shopping on the internet continues to rise as more and more people visit the online stores to make a purchase. 2005 was no different as the sales showed massive improvement compared to the year 2004. Reports proving this fact have been released by research agencies like Goldman Sachs, Nielsen/NetRatings, and Harris Interactive.
As per the survey reports, online shoppers spent close to $30.1 billion from late October until December 23. This is a 30% increase over the same period in 2004. The researchers took into consideration feedback from around 8600 shoppers in the U.S. this also means that online eCommerce revenues made up 27 percent of total spending during the holidays. This itself is an impressive improvement compared to 16 percent four years ago.
Some of the hottest items on the net based stores continued to be electronic and computing goods. This sector alone showed a growth of 126 percent with sales totaling $4.8 billion in revenues. However, clothing dominated the overall market with sales coming to around $5.3 billion in consumer spending. Videogame market and toys segment showed a slide.
