United Airlines passengers hit by computer problem related delays
United Airlines has reported that technical glitches in their computer systems resulted in flight delays of up to 90 minutes. As many as 200 United Airlines flights were affected by these flaws, which has now been corrected by the airline company. The system, which controls the airline’s computer system controlling check-ins and reservations, went down on Tuesday resulting in havoc in the management system.
United took around four hours to fix the glitches but they could not prevent delays on around 200 scheduled flights. The problem resulted in the airline staff manually checking the passenger flow, which caused late arrival and departure of the flights. United Airlines representative Jeff Green added that most flights were delayed by 60 to 90 minutes because of the problem.
The company further pushed back the takeoff times of more flights to allow the traveling passengers stuck in long lines to board. Others were requested to reschedule their flights to keep the operations going on. United is now investigation the root of the problem to prevent further issues resulting due to the same glitch. They operate around 3400 flights on a daily basis and cannot take the chance of another similar problem hurting their operations.
