Washington Post announces their own Radio Station

US based news media group Washington Post has announced that they are launching a new radio news station. This new radio station from the company would start operating from March this year from the nation’s capital city Washington DC. Washington Post is aiming to boost its readership through this new initiative planned to target the radio listening audience in the country.

They are collaborating with Salt Lake City-based media firm Bonneville International Corp. to launch the Washington Post Radio. BIC is already operation many such radio station networks throughout the country. This station would be broadcasting locally and would feature reporters and editors from their print and online division.

Boisfeuillet Jones Jr., publisher of the Washington Post said in a statement on this new plan: “This is a wonderful opportunity for The Washington Post to encourage the radio audience to read more of the newspaper.” The move does not come as a surprise as many newspaper firms around the world are feeling the pressure from the internet with declining readership. Washington Post is trying to just avoid becoming a part of the group, which either has closed shops or sold out to competitors.
