Yahoo! launches Yahoo! Go brand for alternative mediums to connect to net
Yahoo! is going ahead with their plans to target the mobile internet users with their new service initiative called Yahoo! Go. This new brand from the company is targeting the users who access the web from alternative mediums like television sets and the mobile phones. Regular services are seldom customized for these platforms and Yahoo! is now targeting to remove this shortcoming with their regular services.
Chief Executive Terry Semel said in a statement to the media on their new initiatives: “We think the Internet isn’t just a Web page.†He also added that the next stage of the web would be to add the capability to connect to the internet using any logical device possible. The company is also inviting the tech hardware makers to work with Yahoo to make its services available everywhere.
Some of the new services from the Yahoo! now include Yahoo Go Mobile and Yahoo Go TV. They also plan to launch Yahoo Go Desktop, which would tie up the phone and TV services to the personal computer. Considering the fact that mobiles are a lot more widely available devices than personal computers, it makes sense to target the mobile market even more than ever.
Semel added: “For many, many years, we grew up where somewhere else was the programer. That dynamic has completely changed.†Yahoo! is expecting the consumers to use their mobiles for more than just access information from the web. They want them to add onto the information available on the web and that includes Blogging, movie reviews and other opinion related services.
