Verizon Wireless unveils Global E-Mail Service

US based mobile service provider Verizon Wireless has announced the availability of their new service, which would enable their subscribers to get their e-mail in more than 50 countries. However, this service would be enabled for only those customers who own a phone specially designed to support this new technology.

This service would be using a dual-mode CDMA-GSM phone, which would allow corporate users to access to their e-mail in the countries supported by Verizon. Currently, the company is offering this service on the recently launched Samsung SCH i830 mobile phone.

Samsung SCH i830 includes a full QWERTY keyboard, which makes it easier for its users to write mails and perform other functions on their mobiles. The phone is of course also capable of making and receiving calls in the United States, Canada and more than 140 countries around the world.

This phone model is currently offered exclusively through Verizon outlets and is equipped with VZEmail, Wireless Sync, Windows Mobileâ„¢ and Pocket PC applications. The phone comes with dual mode functionality CDMA/GSM for voice and EV-DO/GPRS for data. This feature enables the users to use the phone in most telecom networks around the world and keep a single number while roaming.

Verizon is offering this phone for $599.99 with a two-year customer agreement.
