Microsoft expanding in India for their Cryptography related development work
Software giants Microsoft is expanding its operations in the Indian market with development work related to Cryptography technologies. Microsoft is involved in this market through their arm Microsoft Research which has a lab situation in Bangalore in India. The company showcased a prototype of a multi-lingual and interactive digital map of the country during its annual research symposium here.
This project has taken the help from the India’s ministry of science and uses technologies incorporated in the company’s Virtual Earth project. Richard Rashid, senior vice-president, Microsoft Research claimed that this project is one of its kind and would allow the users to add information on their areas to specific locations on the map.
The Microsoft Research wing working in Bangalore in India is also involved in other projects like rigorous software engineering, multi-lingual systems, digital geographies, hardware and communications and technology for emerging markets. There are further expanding the scope of this research in cryptography, security, algorithms, and multimedia security.
The team is now powered by 30 individuals and the company has further plans to expand the research group in the coming months. P. Anandan, managing director, Microsoft Research Lab said in a statement about their upcoming plans: “We have made excellent progress, especially in the technology for emerging markets area, where we have come out with a multiple mouse enabling about six children to use a single computer simultaneously.â€
