Reports claim that IBM interested in a stake in Satyam
Market sources have claimed that the global IT giants IBM (International Business Machines) have expressed their interest in purchasing a stake in the Indian IT company Satyam Computers. Satyam happens to be the fourth largest software services company in India after Infosys and Wipro.
The reports in the media quotes an executive close to the Hyderabad-based IT company who has in fact claimed that the IBM executives have had discussions on this topic with Ramalinga Raju, the chairman and founder of the company. Raju also controls around 14% stake in the company.
IBM has not hidden the fact that they are interested in expanding their business interest in the Indian market. The company acquired Daksh a couple of years ago which is one of the leading companies in India in the BPO sector. IBM also employees around 30,000 people here in India and would further like to expand its services and development centers.
Satyam has benefited a lot from the outsourcing services it provides to companies around the world. And it would be interesting to see if IBM in fact invests in this firm.
