Disney looking at other online stores besides Apple iTunes

Entertainment industry giants Disney has made it clear that they are not exactly in love with the super duper Apple iTunes digital store. The company had earlier collaborated with Apple to provide digital video content on their iTunes store. This included episodes of popular television series like Lost and Desperate Housewives.

Latest reports claim that the company has sold more than 1.5 units of these episodes. However, Disney is not exactly satisfied as they now are planning to expand this approach of providing digital downloads of video content through other mediums. The company now aims to offer similar content through other online stores and be “platform agnostic”.

Many TV networks have also started their own digital content stores to provide DRM protected versions of digital content on the net. Disney chief financial officer Tom Staggs added on their plans: “Other companies with on-demand products will feature some of our content in the near future.”

The company plans to optimally utilize the syndicated value of the digital content they offer through the medium of television to their customers worldwide.
