Jetstar Asia start flights on Singapore-Bangalore route

Domestic airline companies have more competition to tackle now that international budget airline companies are entering the Indian market. The latest news is that the Singapore based Jetstar Asia has launched their flights on the Singapore-Bangalore route and they have priced the package very competitively.

This is the second city in India where they are now offering their flights. Jetstar Asia started their thrice-a-week flights between Kolkata and Singapore last year. Bangalore is of course a bigger market with most IT Companies in India having their units located here.

The first flight from the company landed in Bangalore yesterday. The company announced their plans to operate five flights a week between Bangalore and Singapore. Jetstar Asia’s Acting CEO Neil Thompson said in a statement: “We are keen to tap into a combination of SME business travelers and the growing tourist trade that’s coming from India to Singapore and onwards.”

He added: “We are also confident that we’ll not only be able to take market share, but also tap into the latent demand that exists in the market.” They are now also looking for other airline companies here in India to collaborate on feeder market.
