Steve Lyons retires as VP Marketing at Ford Motors
US based automotive giants Ford just yesterday announced their mega restructuring plans which included massive job cuts and closing down of multiple loss making plants. The latest news in from the company is that Steve Lyons who is the vice president for North American marketing, sales and service is going to retire from his position as well.
This is just another of the moves from the company to lower the number of its officer ranks by 12 percent in the next two months. This is part of their restructuring plan, which is designed to get Ford back to profitability. The company has as many as 54 senior officers and they have plans to cut this number by at least six or seven positions.
Lyons joined Ford Motors back in 1972 as a regular truck design engineer. He is now set to retire at the end of next month. He now plans to open up a Ford dealership in Arizona. His position would now be taken over by Cisco Codina who was previously the head of Ford’s customer service division.
Ford Chairman and CEO Bill Ford spoke about Lyons contribution to the company: “Steve’s ability to drive results throughout an organization will be missed.â€
