Qualcomm Inc. posts higher profits in last quarter 2005
Wireless market giants Qualcomm have announced their revenue figures for the last quarter of the last year and they have shown impressive profits for the period. The company has gained a lot from the growing demand of mobile phones around the world.
Qualcomm said in a statement that its net income rose 21 percent to $620 million for the quarter that ended on December 25. In addition, the company’s revenues were around $1.74 billion, which is a 25% improvement over the figures for the same period last year.
The company basically provides tech solutions for mobile companies making CDMA based mobile phones. These phones are in high demand in the American market, which contribute a lot to the sales figures for Qualcomm. They also make chips for the phones based on W-CDMA, a high-speed wireless technology that is gaining popularity in the European markets.
Qualcomm also recently completed its acquisition of Flarion Technologies, which developed FLASH-OFDM technology. This is now expected to give competition to the Wimax technology to power the next generation wireless broadband connectivity.
