Dell Computers: A new BPO Unit in Gurgaon
World’s largest maker of personal computers, Dell is due to make an announcement regarding its decision to open up a new BPO unit in Gurgaon, India. This new unit in Gurgaon would be the company’s fourth such in India after Mohali, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
This new unit would help the company expand its workforce in India to more than 10,000 employees. This comes in addition to recent news, which reported company’s plans to establish a manufacturing base here in India to meet the local demand, which is growing fast.
In addition, the company also has plans to expand its Mohali unit to up its headcount by 20% to 1800 employees. All these plans are to lower the reliance on third party companies where Dell outsources its own work. However, they have no plans to completely shut down outsourcing work to third party companies as they continue their expansion in the Indian market.
Dell has stated that they would be very strict on the quality of the services provided by third party companies related to their work. The company also outsources work to other countries like Philippines and the Caribbean besides the Indian market.
