IBM to acquire Argus
US based tech giants IBM (International Business Machines) continues their acquisition spree with the latest announcement made today. The company has confirmed that they are acquiring Argus semiconductor software and related IP property from Inficon.
This is just another example of a deal where companies are aiming to expand their collaborating in research and development. IBM is one of the big names, which is working along with their clients to develop, design, and manufacture new products.
IBM has said that they would be integrating the operations of Argus Software into their existing IBM operations. Argus would bring to them expertise and knowledge in the lithography advanced process control for semiconductor manufacturing.
However, they have declined to reveal the financial details behind this latest acquisition. Joseph Nemeth, vice president of Semiconductor Industry, IBM Engineering & Technology Services said in a statement: “This acquisition further expands and strengthens our portfolio of factory process control solutions.â€
He further added: “We see the Argus product as providing a critical solution to the semiconductor industry in both lithography development and early prototype manufacturing.”
