Bharti to invest three bln rupees in eastern India

CALCUTTA (Reuters) – Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd plans to invest three billion rupees in 2004/05 (April-March) to expand cellular services in the eastern region, a company official said on Thursday.
“We are now moving at a rapid pace to launch our services in West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and the northeast by the end of this year,” Manoj Kohli, president of mobility services at Bharti, told reporters at a news conference.
