Apple iTunes gearing up for the billionth download online
Apple does not only sell their iPod range of digital players in large numbers but also sells a whole lot of songs on their Apple iTunes digital media store. The store is now approaching a mega milestone of its one-billionth download and the company has announced some big prices for the individual who downloads the one-billionth song from Apple iTunes.
The company has announced that the lucky winner will win 10 60GB iPods, a 20in iMac, and a $10,000 gift certificate for downloads. The company has further plans to establish a new music scholarship named after the purchaser at an American university.
The store has currently sold more than 950 million songs and the milestone should not be far off. The company on an average sells more than a million songs daily and the recent addition of video content has only escalated the number of downloads from the Apple iTunes.
The company is also offering a 4GB iPod Nano and a $100 iTunes gift certificate to the downloader of ever 100,00th track from the digital store. Apple also recently launched a cheaper variant of Apple iPod nano and decreased the prices of some of the models to enhance its challenge against the cheaper Chinese mp3 players available in the market.
