Apple has yet again proved that they are the global leaders when it comes to digital music sales. The company has announced that their iTunes digital store has sold its one-billionth song online. Apple iTunes achieved this feet in its third year of operations.

The company celebrated this achievement by giving an iMac computer, 10 iPods, and $10,000 worth of downloads to the lucky person who bought the billionth tune. This awesome milestone was achieved shortly before 1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Apple is currently doing great in the digital music players market as well. The most recent quarter saw Apple selling record number of their iPod digital players in the market. Apple iPod was one of the most demanded gift item during the recently concluded holiday season in the North America.

The company does not make much money from the sales of these songs from the Apple iTunes considering the recording industry takes most of the money. However, the popularity of the iTunes helps the company sell more iPods where they make tons of revenues.
