AskJeeves: The loyal butler is history as Ask retires Jeeves

Search engine company AskJeeves.com has finally confirmed that they are firing their mascot servant Jeeves and he would no longer appear on their search engine service online. The company would now have a simple homepage with no friendly face greeting the customers.

The search engine company is now adopting a self-service approach for users looking for a focused way to search the Web. And the company wants to make it work beyond the guesswork by the users to put in the relevant keywords to get the desired results.

The new layout on the Ask.com search engine features a slick, do-it-yourself toolbox. It enables the user to focus his searches based on the type of content and information he is looking for online.

Ask.com is offering as many as 20 different types of specialized search tools Ask.com has developed. The company is also working on developing further specialized searching services to entice more users to get on their search engine.

Jim Lanzone, general manager of Ask.com said in a statement on their initiative: “Other engines just do 10 blue links and ads around them. We have really gone a lot further. Users are going to experience a search engine that does more for them faster than any other search engine they use.”

They got rid of Jeeves because he is English orientated, he is a more of an English thing isn’t he? They got rid of him because other country users didnt understand it. Well i say they should have kept it, im English! If they didnt like Jeeves then they could’ve used Google! Anyway, im not gonna use it anymore, i cant believe they did this! I’m gonna use google now!

by the way, i also think what you did with jeeves is soooo bad. i liked using this because it felt like i was really asking someone even if i wasn’t really talking to him. why are you going to do that because it really just hurts only yourself in the long run. this page isn’t the same without the good ole’ jeeves. dont hate on him because you were bad. until jeeves is back, it’s google for me.

Anybody that knows what a real television butler is, would know the name Jeeves. These snot nose little brats that do everything on their cell phones and ipods don’t know about reality, and only know about Reality (in Hollywood) television, but think that they know everything. Bring Jeeves back for the real people.
