LUMIX DMC-L1: Panasonic Matsushita developing their first digital SLR Camera
Panasonic brand maker Matsushita Electric has announced that they are soon going to launch their first digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera later this year. The market for digital SLR cameras is growing fast and Panasonic wants a piece of pie for itself in this lucrative segment.
The company is already the world’s biggest consumer electronics maker and has been developing technologies for launching such a product in the market in collaboration with Japanese precision equipment maker Olympus Corp.
Matsushita has however not apparently decided on a possible pricing structure for this upcoming product codenamed LUMIX DMC-L1. The company is however displaying a prototype at the PMA 2006 International Convention and Trade Show in Orlando, Florida.
Olympus on the other hand has already announced their own E-330 digital SLR camera using the jointly developed mirror box unit and sensor.
