Mobile Phone sales touch record numbers
Market analysts Gartner have reported that mobile phone sales are breaking all previous records. However, they also warned that the mid-sized manufacturers of mobile phones are being squeezed out of the market by the larger players in the market.
The market saw a phenomenal growth of 21% last year though the top market players controls like 84% of the entire market. This has allowed them to continue remain profitable even after releasing phones with little or no margins.
This has resulted in smaller players in the market catering to specialized markets of mobile phone customers. As per incoming reports, mobile phone sales touched around 235.1 million units in the fourth quarter. Nokia sold more than a third of all the phones in this period.
Nokia was followed by Motorola and Samsung with no other player managing to touch 10% market share. Siemen’s market share is dwindling down as the company has already sold its mobile division to BenQ who are now manufacturing mobile phones under the Siemens brand.
