CBS Alerts: CBS now offer mobile alert for news

CBS Corporation has announced their latest service targeted at the mobile users. They are offering a subscription based wireless media service, which promises to be the first to send breaking news alerts and entertainment headlines directly to the mobile phones of subscribers.

This news delivery would include not only the news content but also image content to enhance the quality of the message delivered. CBS calls this service “CBS Alerts” and it also comes with CBS News to Go, which will cost 99 cents per month.

An additional service called ‘E.T. to Go’ would focus on content related to entertainment and media news and would cost around $3.99 per month. CBS would be pushing information from their company-produced “Entertainment Tonight” through this service.

Subscribers to these services would receive as many as five daily alerts through text messages. Some of these messages would also include images and video content depending upon the capability of the service and the mobile device used. Cyriac Roeding, CBS Digital Media vp wireless said in a statement on this new service initiative: “We want our audience to be able to stay in touch so if they’re walking down the street and they get a news alert and they want to see more, they can also go watch it on TV.”
