Internet Spam in India rising
India is one of the emerging markets for the internet companies. The availability of broadband in the various nooks and the corners of the country mean that more and more people are spending a lot of time on the internet.
This also makes them more susceptible to getting more spam. And a market report has confirmed just that. Market research has revealed that as much as ninety-one percent of email traffic sent to Indian PC users is spam. This is a huge number and contributes a lot in the bandwidth wastage in the country, which is still looking for that perfect ISP.
This report has been released by research company MessageLabs, which warned that the rate of technological advancement has outstripped growth in security awareness. Paul Wood, security analyst at MessageLabs added in a statement: “There is booming technology in India, but it has been suggested there is little thought for security, which creates a market to exploit that.â€
Wood added: “American companies use host services in other countries with laxer spam laws — perhaps a server farm in South America or an ISP in China. Communications between the spammer and the server can be encrypted, so the provider may not know what the server is being used for.â€
